"THE SPIRIT OF MSA"
Creativity and spontaneity abound at MSA, as this original poem, created by 2009 Scholar Taylor Phillips (Kansas City, MO) for the “2009 MSA Poetry Slam,” brilliantly suggests. Watch it here.

Plus, check out this audition tape for 2009 scholar Kennedy Stomps (St. Louis, MO).

"MSA: We Believe" by the Exploring Documentary major
Watch the video 2009 scholars produced documenting MSA during its 25th year of existence. Please pass along its message so we can share the profound impact MSA has on so many people.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

BOOMBA HEY!!! HELP MSA WITH SOME NEAT OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDED BY MSA FACULTY AND STAFF

Three MSA faculty and staff are contributing their talent to MSA by making available some great “stuff”.

1. For many years PAUL RAHMOELLER (MSA fac. ’85-’11) has created three-dimension tic-tac-toe sets for students in his MAJOR and MINOR. These have always caught the eye and attention of other MSA’ers. Now Paul has arranged to create 3-D TIC-TAC-TOE sets for MSA alumni. To order yours (or to order one for a friend), make a check, payable to MSA Development Fund, and send to MSA Development Fund, c/o A & S Dean’s Office, MU, 317 Lowry Hall, Columbia, MO 65211.

Easy assembly instructions will be posted at www.moscholars.org. Minimum (tax-deductible) contribution: $28 (one $ for each year of MSA!). Please indicate “3 D Tic-Tac-Toe” in the Subject Line or in a note that accompanies the check.

2. LEROY THOMPSON served for six years (1991-1996) on the MSA faculty. While at the same time he was finishing up a distinguished career at Ritenour High School in St Louis, his MSA courses – on “Terrorism and Counterterrorism” -- pointed the way to what has been a very successful “second career” as a counterrorism expert. His assignments have taken him around the world. But always the English teacher, he’s become a highly respected writer, having published (or under contract to publish) 48 books. The Counterterrorist Manual is an analysis of how the world’s counterterrorist units evolved and are trained. It has been on the Military Book Club’s bestseller list for most of the past year. Designed for the general reader, The Counterterrorist Manual is a terrific reminder of a great MSA faculty member, who brought a unique, and timely, curriculum to MSA scholars – and who now makes it available to MSA friends. To order a copy (autographed by the author) (or to order one for a friend), make a check, payable to MSA Development Fund, and send to MSA Development Fund, c/o A & S Dean’s Office, MU, 317 Lowry Hall, Columbia, MO 65211. Minimum (tax-deductible) contribution: $28 (one $ for each year of MSA!). Please indicate “Thompson” in the Subject Line or in a note that accompanies the check.

3. AMY HOFFMAN attended MSA in 2007, and served as an RA in 2011. A professional music major at Berklee College of Music in Boston, she recently released her first collection of original compositions and has earmarked all contributions to MSA. Go to http://www.noisetrade.com/theamyhoffman; whatever you “tip” Amy goes to MSA! And you get to hear the wonderful work of a talented MSA’er! There’s a nice YouTube viewing with more on Amy and the project at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBAWWCxZFHQ. Finally, additional information can be found here.
