THE SCIENCE AND THE PSEUDOSCIENCE
I. Course description
Physics: the Science and the Pseudoscience is a discussion-based course in the “rights” and “wrongs” of physics. The emphasis is on critical analysis of the ways in which scientific fact is misrepresented. The intent of the course is to provide the scholars the skills with which they can address fallacies that arise with regards to the science that is physics.

III. Rationale for inclusion in a program for gifted students:
Physics is a challenging science which most Missouri Scholars will eventually pursue in their home high schools. Physics: the Science and the Pseudoscience gives these talented students an opportunity to engage in critical analysis of physical concepts. These young people are particularly well informed on the physical world but even they too may harbor scientific misinformation.
IV. Major topics covered
V. Pre-requisite knowledge
The scholars are in no need of any training in physics but it is expected that they be proficient in algebra.
VI. Learning objectives
The scholars should be prepared to address critical questions involving the topics for discussion as outlined previously.
